Hp Compaq dx2300 Win 7 Home Premium SP1 x64 original setup history

Purchased unit refurbished @ microcenter more than 90 days ago.

As currently configured:  BIOS version 1.12 (has intermettent POST hang), Pentium D 2.8, 2 GB DDR2 RAM, 80 GB SATA II HDD, onboard Intel video, onboard LAN card, original factory 250 watt PSU.

OS software as above, updated.  MC had system set to install new OS on initial turnon, so never saw what the original OS that came with as it was first shipped to original customer.

A + certified, so support in drivers, upgrades, repair, etc., is not the issue.

How to find out this info?

BTW, see the BIOS upgrade is for either XP or Vista, and it is a windows based flashing tool, so since Win 7 is installed, likely to leave that issue alone unless I install the original os and work from there.

Did install 4 GB DDR2 RAM, but system BSOD' so reverted to original sticks.  First BSOD ever, don't care to see it again.  Saw 3.24 GB RAM usable, so guessing memory chipset is 32-bit and thus cannot see full 4 GB.

See, without the known history, flying a little blind here.  Could anyone help?

Thanks.
