computer is dead but has an indicator light on

Computer is an Pavalion a1250n.  Upon returning from a one week vacation noticed that there was a faint blue light on around the start switch.  Tried to start the computer and nothing (totally dead).  Light on rear of power supply was on.  Removed front on case and saw that there is a indicator light above the start switch and it is on.  Thinking the power supply had failed pulled it and checked all connectors and all voltages were correct (got specified voltages on web for power supply). Plugged everything back in and same issue.  Contacted HP support and was told it was a bad motherboard.  So assuming HP support was correct I got a used board off Ebay and it did not correct the problem.  Second guess was a bad CPU.  Changed it out also and same thing.  Disconnected all accessories and same problem.  Disconnected DVD etc and same problem.  Pulled memory chips and reinstalled them so be sure they were seated good and no help.

Again pulled power supply and rechecked all voltaged on all connectors and everything looks good.  I have looked all over the interned to see what the top indicator light means and cannot find anything.  A friend mentioned that if the memory chips were bad it would not start but I don't want to keep putting money into the unit since it is old.  Anyone out there with similiar issues or know what my problem is.
